Due to lack of earthing in most of the houses in the village, electronic goods and equipment were burnt in the houses. While pouring water in the washing machine, Devendra’s daughter Shivani, aged 20, got electrocuted. Submersible pumps, refrigerators, fans, washing machines, inverters, TVs, room heaters, lights etc. of dozens of houses were blown and damaged. People started running out of their homes due to fear of electrocution.

Some people saved their lives by climbing onto the cot. The villagers alleged that this accident happened due to the negligence of the electricity department. SDO of Electricity Department, Praveen Kumar, after listening to the problems of the victim’s family, assured to solve them. Electrical appliances in people’s homes were burning and exploding with smoke. The flowing current was so strong that the gas cylinders kept in the house were uprooted from under the floor. It was thankful that the gas cylinders did not catch fire. Otherwise a major disaster could have happened.

Due to electric shock, submersible, fridge, washing machine, TV, fan, mobile charger, room heater, LED bulb and tube light of Devendra son Babu Lal Sharma were burnt. The equipments of Bhagwati, Pinkush, Bhimu, Harishchandra, Kumru, Shibbu and Shankar also got burnt and damaged. According to SDO Praveen Kumar, due to shorting in the transformer installed in the colony, the ST line changed into LT, due to which high capacity current of 11 thousand volts flowed in the houses of the colony. The electronic equipment in their homes got burnt and damaged. If these people had got earthing done then the accident would not have happened.
