Ingredients to make Arhar Dal
Arhar (tur) dal – 1 cup
Tomato chopped – 1
Ginger – 1 piece
Green chili – 1-2
Green coriander chopped – 2-3 tbsp
Cumin – 1 tsp
Turmeric – 1/2 tsp
Red chili powder – 1/2 tsp
Coriander powder – 1 tsp
Asafoetida – 1 pinch
Garam masala – 1/2 tsp
Desi ghee – 1 tbsp
salt – as per taste

Arhar Dal Recipe
To make Arhar Dal, first take the pulse and wash it thoroughly with water 3-4 times. After this, chop tomatoes, green chillies and green coriander finely. Now put pigeon pea, one and a half glass of water, turmeric and salt as per taste in the pressure cooker, cover the cooker and put it on the gas. Turn off the gas after 2-3 whistles in the cooker, so that the dal gets cooked properly.

Now take a pan and put ghee in it and heat it on medium flame. When the ghee melts, put cumin seeds in it and crackle for a few seconds. After this add chopped ginger and green chillies and fry for some time. After this add red chili powder and turmeric. After a few seconds, add finely chopped tomatoes to it and fry till the tomatoes become soft. Then add other dry spices and fry it.

Now put the boiled pigeon pea in the pan and cook it by mixing it well with the help of a ladle. You can increase the quantity of water in dal as per the requirement. Cover the pan and let the lentils cook for 5-7 minutes. When the dal is completely cooked, turn off the gas and garnish it with green coriander leaves. Serve delicious Arhar Dal prepared without onion and garlic with roti or paratha.
