AIUDF Polling Agent Died: The second phase of voting took place on Friday (April 26) for 88 Lok Sabha seats in 13 states across the country. Amidst the voting, sad news came from Assam that a polling agent has died inside a polling station there. According to a report by English news channel India Today, All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) polling agent Farooq Ahmed has died in Hailakandi, Assam. A report has also been sent to the Election Commission in this matter.

The incident took place at Golashera Primary School polling station located on the Assam-Mizoram border. Ahmed was on duty when his health deteriorated. He had become unconscious, after which when he was taken to the hospital, the doctors declared him dead after examination. According to sources, the cause of death is suspected to be brain stroke. However, the body has been sent for post-mortem, the real cause of death will be known only after the report comes.

The relatives of the deceased person have reached the hospital. The administration has completed the post-mortem paperwork and the body has been sent for training. Along with Farooq Ahmed, other polling agents and election personnel present inside the polling station will also be interrogated. The footage of the CCTV cameras installed inside the polling station has also been preserved so that it can be used in the investigation if needed. At present the family members have not complained about any suspicious circumstances.

Elections being held in five Lok Sabha constituencies in Assam

Voting was also held on five Lok Sabha seats in Assam under the second phase of general elections. However, people’s enthusiasm for voting was very good there. There was 71.1 percent voting. Assam Chief Electoral Officer Anurag Goyal confirmed at a press conference in Guwahati that all arrangements for the second phase of elections were in good condition.
