If you want to see a unique example of preparing government files and documents, then there is hardly anything better than the meeting minutes of the execution committee formed to remove encroachment from Asi and Varuna rivers. On a petition filed in the National Green Tribunal (NGT) to revive the existence of Asi and Varuna rivers, an order was passed on 23 November 2021 that an execution committee should be constituted. Along with this, a supervisory committee was also formed on the orders of NGT. In the nodal role of the Pollution Control Board, meetings of these committees were also held from time to time. The minutes of the meeting were prepared by the Pollution Control Board. So far, there is not much change in the minutes of 21 meetings of the Executive Committee and six meetings of the Supervisory Committee.
Although many important decisions were taken in these meetings to remove encroachment from the land of Asi-Varuna river and bring it back to its previous existence, most of the decisions could not be implemented on the ground. Information about the meetings to be held for the revival of Asi and Varuna has been made public. It has been started on the orders of NGT to increase participation of the general public. Along with this, environmental coordinator will also be appointed. For this, the regional officer of the Pollution Control Board has sought guidance from the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board.
