On January 2, at around 7.30 pm, near village Garhi Jaini on Jalesar Road in Hathras city, five youths riding two bikes shot their grandmother and granddaughter due to old enmity. The girl present at the spot also narrowly escaped. In injured condition, the grandmother and granddaughter were brought to Bagla District Hospital for treatment. Treatment of both is going on here. Police have started investigation.

Sunny, 26-year-old son of Vinod Kumar, resident of village Garhi Jaini, along with his 18-year-old sister Varsha had come to Chhatri located on Jalesar Road to get eye medicine for 75-year-old grandmother Jayamanti Devi. After getting the medicine from here, grandmother reached Iglas Adda to get the medicine to relieve her leg pain. After getting the medicine, Sunny was returning to the village by bike with his sister Varsha and grandmother Jayamanti Devi. As soon as the bike reached near village Garhi Jaini, five youths coming on two bikes from Jalesar side put their bikes in front of Sunny’s bike.
After stopping the bike, the accused started abusing and threatening and started firing with pistols. Sunny was shot in the chest and leg, while Jayamanti Devi was shot in the stomach, while Varsha narrowly escaped. As soon as the sound of gunshot was heard, there was a stampede on the spot. When Varsha immediately informed the village about the incident on phone, the villagers and family members rushed towards the incident spot.
The injured were brought to Bagla District Hospital in critical condition for treatment. On information, CO Sadar Yogendra Krishna Narayan along with the police force first reached the hospital and then reached the spot. The CO said that teams are being formed and raids are being carried out in search of those who fired. A case will be registered on the complaint of the victim party. Varsha has told that she has identified the attackers.
