What is a dry day?

Dry Day is a day or date on which the sale of liquor is prohibited in government shops, clubs, bars etc. It can be a festival or election day. National Holiday like 26 January (Republic Day), 15 August (Independence Day), 2 October (Gandhi Jayanti) along with dry days on the occasion of festivals or elections.

There are many varieties of liquor around the world, these include wine, whiskey, brandy vodka, beer, gin and many more. The prices of all these varieties of liquor are also different. However, people consume liquor according to the temperature everywhere.

When will the liquor shop remain closed

Liquor lovers get upset if the liquor shop remains closed for even a day. Because on dry day, liquor sale is completely banned. Not only this, if any shopkeeper is caught selling liquor on that day, then there is a provision of legal fine and liquor ban against him.

August 15, Wednesday: Independence Day
August 26, Monday: Janmashtami

Apart from this, liquor will not be available for two days in September also.

September 7, Saturday: Ganesh Chaturthi (only in Maharashtra)
September 17, Tuesday: Eid-e-Milad and Anant Chaturdashi

Whereas liquor sale is banned for four days in October.

October 2, Tuesday: Gandhi Jayanti
October 8, Monday: Prohibition Week (only in Maharashtra)
October 12, Saturday: Dussehra
October 17, Thursday: Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti

Apart from this, liquor will not be available for 3 days in November.

November 1, Friday: Diwali
November 12, Tuesday: Kartiki Ekadashi
November 15, Friday: Guru Nanak Jayanti

Liquor shops will remain closed for only one day in the last month of December 2024

December 25, Tuesday: Christmas

Let us tell you that on a dry day, no person in the country or state can sell or buy liquor. If caught doing so, the police takes strict action and also imposes a fine. Not only this, in some cases the police can also take action to cancel the liquor license.
