Gau Dhwaj Sthapana Bharat Yatra Protest in Meghalaya: After Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, now protest against Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj’s ‘Cow Flag Establishment Bharat Yatra’ has started in Meghalaya too. The District Magistrate of East Khasi Hills district has issued prohibitory order under Section 163 BNSS, banning the gathering of five or more people in the district.

According to sources, Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati Maharaj will not be allowed to land in Meghalaya. According to the report of NDTV, the state government has taken this decision in view of the protests in the state regarding this yatra. Shankaracharya was to reach Meghalaya on Saturday as part of ‘Cow Flag Establishment Bharat Yatra’, which is being taken out demanding a ban on cow slaughter. The report quoted sources as saying that the state government has informed the Airport Authority of India not to allow Shankaracharya’s chartered plane to land.

Even in Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, people could not get out of the airport.

Earlier, after receiving the news of Shankaracharya’s arrival on Friday itself, many group members had reached Shillong airport on Friday itself. Talking to the media, these people said that beef is a part of the staple diet for all the people of the North-East except Assam and they will not tolerate anyone telling them what they should and should not eat. On Thursday, the chartered plane of Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati of Jyotir Math Peeth in Uttarakhand was allowed to land in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, but he could not exit the airport after authorities requested him to do so. Law and order may deteriorate due to this.

Student organization protested in Arunachal Pradesh

After reaching Doni Polo airport in Hollongi, Shankaracharya faced opposition from members of All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU). After this he went to Dimapur and was to address a cow protection program in Kohima on Saturday, but he had to return from there also. Earlier this month, while pledging to go on a cow protection campaign in 35 states, Shankaracharya had said, “On behalf of 100 crore Hindus, we want to tell the government that cow slaughter should be stopped and a law should be made on it. “
