Mandya: This child who is cooking food with masala spices in his hands is only 5 years old. Srividya’s son, 5-year-old Atharva, a resident of Mandya city, cooks food for the family. When there are school holidays, he shows interest in learning cooking from his mother instead of wasting time on mobile and TV. Generally children spend time during school holidays in playing, music, dancing, painting etc. In recent times, children spend more time on mobile phones and watching TV. But the meaning of Mandya is a little different from everyone else. He is spending his school holidays by cooking food with his mother.
mother’s encouragement
When mother is cooking, Atharva stands near her and watches. Now he has been able to cook some dishes himself. Atharva makes many types of dishes including chapati, dosa, tomato bhaat, pulao. Atharva’s parents are running a candle business. Seeing Atharva’s interest in cooking, mother Vidya is encouraging him. By now Atharva has learned about spicy foods and pulses. When mother cooks, Atharva stays with her and helps.
role of parents
Overall, parents should recognize their children’s interests and encourage them to learn. This helps in the development of children and also helps children spend less time in mobile and watching TV. Atharva’s story teaches us how important it is to guide children according to their interests. When parents are mindful of their children, they allow them to have experiences that are not only entertaining but also teach them new skills.
