Azerbaijan Plane Accident Case: Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev has alleged that the plane that crashed in Kazakhstan was shot down by Russia. 38 people lost their lives in this accident. Although this was not done “intentionally”. He has also been accused of trying to suppress the cause of the accident. Also stressed that Russia should accept its blame in this accident.
“The fact is that the Azerbaijani civilian plane was damaged externally over Russian territory near the city of Grozny and almost lost control,” Aliyev told state media, according to news agency AFP. “We also know that The electronic warfare system had sent our aircraft out of control.”
‘The plane was shot down by Russia’
He further said, “We can say with complete clarity that the plane was shot down by Russia. We are not saying that it was done deliberately, but it was done.” Aliyev said that instead of apologizing for the incident, Russia presented a “misleading version” of what had happened for three days.
“Admitting the crime, apologizing to friendly country Azerbaijan in a timely manner and informing the public about this – these were all measures and steps that should have been taken,” he said. “Unfortunately, for the first three days we heard only misleading statements from Russia,” Azerbaijan’s president said.
Azerbaijan President put forward 3 demands
Aliyev also made three demands from Russia regarding the incident. He said, “First of all, the Russian side should apologize to Azerbaijan. Second, he must admit his crime. Third, the culprits should be punished, brought to criminal responsibility, and the Azerbaijani state, injured passengers and crew members should be compensated.”
Of these three demands of Aliyev, one has already been fulfilled. A day earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had apologized to Aliyev for the incident, but avoided taking responsibility.
