Baba Siddique Murder Case: Mumbai Police filed a charge sheet on Monday (January 6, 2025) in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddiqui. It said that gangster Anmol Bishnoi has carried out the murder to create an atmosphere of fear through his organized crime syndicate.
Police have filed a 4,590-page charge sheet in a special court against 26 arrested accused and three wanted persons, including Anmol Bishnoi, brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in this case. The police chargesheet also contains statements of 210 people.
‘Siddiqui was murdered with the intention of establishing dominance’
According to the charge sheet, Anmol Bishnoi had conspired to murder Siddiqui with the intention of creating an atmosphere of fear and establishing dominance. Apart from Anmol Bishnoi, the other wanted accused are Mohammad Yasin Akhtar and Shubham Lonkar. In this case, the police have so far arrested 26 people and taken action against them under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime (MCOC) Act. All the accused are in judicial custody.
When was Baba Siddiqui murdered?
Former Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddiqui, 66, was murdered on the night of Dussehra on 12 October 2024. Siddiqui was shot dead by three assailants outside the office of his son Zeeshan Siddiqui in Bandra area of Mumbai. Immediately after this massacre, Mumbai Police came into action mode and arrested the accused from different parts of the country. The accused of this murder include the shooter and the people who helped in the murder.
According to the police, the shooters had fired several rounds at Baba Siddiqui, after which he was admitted to Lilavati Hospital in a critical condition. Baba Siddiqui was also called the icon of Iftar party. Every year he used to invite everyone from politicians to film stars for Iftar at his home.
