Bahraich bulldozer action Matter reached Supreme Court accused said government aim is to punish without trial ANN

Bahraich Violence: The case of bulldozer action in Bahraich, UP has reached the Supreme Court. A petition has been filed on behalf of the three accused of Bahraich violence, requesting for immediate hearing. It was said in the petition that the UP government is taking this action in the spirit of punishment by ignoring the Supreme Court order banning bulldozer action. The notice has been issued before taking action just for show. People were not even given a proper opportunity to present their views.

A young man named Ram Gopal Mishra was killed in the violence during Durga idol immersion in Bahraich. Since then, the police has taken swift action and arrested many people. Meanwhile, the administration has also issued notices to 23 houses declaring them encroachments. In the notice, people have been given three days to remove the illegal construction. Since then there has been a stir there.

Houses are 10 to 70 years old

In the petition of Swaliha, daughter of violence accused Abdul Hameed and two accused Mohammad Akram and Mohammad Nizam, it has been said that all these houses are 10 to 70 years old. The Supreme Court, while imposing an interim stay on the bulldozer action across the country, had said that no concession will be given to illegal construction blocking the road, but these houses are 60 feet away from the middle part of the village road.

The date on the notice was 17th November

The petition said that on November 18, the administration pasted notices stating the application on 23 houses in Maharajganj, Mahsi area of Bahraich. However, the date written in the notice was 17th November. Giving three days time to the people, bulldozer action was called for on 20th November. This is a step taken in the spirit of punishing people instead of anti-encroachment campaign, whereas the court has said that accusing someone of crime cannot be the basis for demolishing his house.

Hearing may take place on Monday morning

The petitioners’ lawyer told ABP News that in view of the emergency situation in the case, he is trying to hear it on Sunday only. If the hearing cannot be held, then as soon as court work begins on Monday morning, we will put forward the matter and seek a stay.
