While Asha participated in the women’s 55-60 age group in the marathon, Bajrang took part in the 60-65 age group marathon. This is their sixth World Marathon as a couple. Earlier, they have participated in marathons held in Boston (17 April 2023), New York (6 November 2022), Chicago (9 October 2022), London (2 October 2022) and Berlin (24 September 2023). Bajrang and Asha want to continue this series of success. Their next target is to participate in Asia’s largest Tokyo World Marathon to be held on March 5 next year.

Despite having fever, Asha did not lose courage

Talking about performance, Asha has always been two steps ahead of her husband Bajrang. However, Bajrang played the role of a coach and encouraged Asha in her success. A day before the Sydney Marathon, Asha also had a fever, but she did not lose courage and walked a distance of 42 km with Bajrang. Before leaving for Sydney, Asha participated in the 72 km race to high altitude Khardungla in Ladakh on September 6 and won the gold medal in the veteran category. Here she proved her superiority by taking a record time of 11 hours 27 minutes.

Started running for fitness

About seven years ago, Bajrang started running with Asha for fitness. After the initial days of hard work, it was not known when this hobby turned into a career. Bajrang says that being in the army, running was a part of my daily routine, but due to family responsibilities, Asha never thought about it. When our children also had children, we started running ourselves.

Plan regular jogging to keep yourself busy.

He said that within a few days Asha’s ability improved rapidly and within two years she started running up to 50 km. Soon she got the title of Veteran Ultra Runner (more than 50 km). Asha’s success did not end here. 100 km also came within her reach. It is hoped that Asha will achieve even greater achievements in the future. As a coach, I am impressed by her performance and wish her a bright future.
