Balkrishna will be born on 27th August in Nandgaon, the playground of Lord Krishna. In all the temples of Braj, Kanhaiya will be born on 26th August, but in Nandgaon he will be born on 27th August. The reason for this difference is hoof counting. In Nandgaon, other festivals including Shri Krishna Janmashtami are celebrated in the hoof counting method. Due to which, many times Janmashtami in Nand Bhavan falls on a different date and does not match with other places.
According to the custom prevalent in Nandgaon, Janmashtami is celebrated exactly eight days after Raksha Bandhan. During this period, if any date increases or decreases, then the date of Janmashtami changes in Nandgaon. Many other festivals are also determined by the method of counting the feet. The birth anniversary of Shri Krishna is celebrated with great pomp in Nandgaon on the Navami day, the next day of Janmotsav.
