The woman died under suspicious circumstances on the first day of the New Year. The in-laws have accused the maternal side of assault and murder by strangulation. The police have taken the body into custody. Neha Bajpayee (31), a resident of Housing Development B Block of the city Kotwali area, died under suspicious circumstances on Wednesday morning. Neha’s mother-in-law informed her parents that Neha had died due to cold. When people from the maternal side reached the spot in the afternoon, preparations were going on for the last rites of the dead body. Meanwhile, when they saw the dead body, there were marks of rope around Neha’s neck. Police reached the spot and investigated.

Neha’s nephew from maternal side, Devesh Dwivedi, resident of Mawaizar village of Hamirpur district, told that his aunt Neha was married 12 years ago to Durgesh Bajpayee, resident of Awas Vikas, Banda. Durgesh died eight years ago. Neha also has an eight year old son. Neha’s second marriage with Durgesh’s younger brother Dharmesh Bajpayee two years ago was insisted by her in-laws. The nephew alleges that Dharmesh is addicted to drinking. On New Year’s night, under the influence of alcohol, he assaulted Neha and strangulated her to death. Devesh Dwivedi has filed a complaint in the police station. On the other hand, Kotwali police say that Neha committed suicide by hanging herself with her dupatta. The case is being investigated.
Prima facie the matter of suicide has come to light. The mother’s side has filed a complaint of murder by strangulation. Post mortem of the dead body is being done. Further action will be taken on the basis of post mortem report. The case is being investigated.,
