It is expected that the Indian government may grant Sheikh Hasina asylum for a long time. However, this has not been officially confirmed by the Indian government yet. Sources said that the Indian government is working on ensuring asylum for 77-year-old Awami League chief Hasina in a European country, but her travel has been hampered due to some ‘problems’. Apart from this, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval is closely monitoring the situation and is regularly updating Prime Minister Modi about former PM Sheikh Hasina’s migration plans and her possible asylum in a European country.

Sheikh Hasina’s security is India’s responsibility

Sources say that “the Air Force and security agencies are conducting special exercises from Hindon Air Base to Delhi’s Safdarjung and Palam airports, considering the possible long stay of Sheikh Hasina in India. Drills have also been conducted for this. Meanwhile, sources also said that National Security Guard (NSG) commandos have been deployed for the internal security of Sheikh Hasina. Whereas, Garud Commandos of the Air Force are handling the external security at Hindon Airbase.
