Sheikh Hasina Security in India: On Monday, 5 August, amid violent protests and killings in Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina was forced to resign from the post of Prime Minister and leave the country. After leaving Bangladesh, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina reached India. She is staying at Hindon Airbase in Ghaziabad, adjacent to Delhi, at 6 pm on 5 August. After reaching India, she also met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
In Rajya Sabha, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that Sheikh Hasina had sought permission to come to India on short notice and she is staying in India for some time. Sheikh Hasina’s future plans are still unclear. During this time, she is under the security cover of Air Force’s Garud Commandos at Hindon Airbase.
Hasina gets security at Asia’s most secure airbase
The highest security is maintained at Hindon airbase. Hindon is the biggest airbase in Asia and the security here is like no other airbase. Apart from this, the Indian Air Force has complete control over Hindon airbase, so every kind of situation can be handled here.
What are the qualities of Garuda Commando?
As soon as she landed in India, the commander of Hindon airbase welcomed Sheikh Hasina. According to media reports, a red carpet was laid out for her. As soon as she reached Hindon, the responsibility of Hasina’s security was given to Garuda Commandos.
Garud Commando Force was formed in the year 2004. The training of this force is quite complex. Garud Commando Force is adept at handling situations like airborne operations, airfield seizure and counter terrorism.
The training of Garud Commando Force is rigorous and long. The 72 weeks of basic training makes it the longest and most difficult. Garud Force has weapons like Tavor TAR-21 assault rifle, Glock 17 and 19 pistols, Heckler & Koch MP5 sub machine gun for close quarter battle, AKM assault rifle, a type of AK-47 and powerful Colt M-4 carbine. Apart from this, they are equipped with highly advanced weapons.
