Meanwhile, the body of a female TV journalist was recovered from Hatirjheel in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka on Wednesday, Dhaka Tribune reported. The deceased was identified as 32-year-old female TV journalist Sara Rahnuma, who was the newsroom editor of Bengali language satellite and cable TV channel Gazi TV.
In what condition was the body found?
According to the Dhaka Tribune, a person saw the body of female TV journalist Sara Rahnuma floating in Dhaka’s Hatirjheel after which he informed the police. It was told that the channel in which the woman worked belongs to the Gazi Group.
Sheikh Hasina’s son targeted
Sajeeb Wazed, son of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has described this incident as another brutal attack on freedom of expression in Bangladesh. Sajeeb Wazed wrote on social media platform X that Gazi TV is a secular news channel. Recently, its owner Ghulam Dastagir Gazi was also arrested.

A police officer at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital outpost said, “Pedestrians pulled out the woman’s body from the canal.” The police is investigating the case. It was reported that Sara Rahnuma wanted to divorce her husband.
