Voting is on 8th February in Pakistan. The Election Commission there has started distribution of 26 crore ballot papers for 859 constituencies of the National Assembly and state assemblies. But before this election, let us tell you how many similarities are there between the Parliament of Pakistan and India and on what points these two Parliaments are different from each other.
How is the Parliament of Pakistan< /strong>
If we talk about the Parliament of Pakistan, it is similar to the Indian Parliament. Here too, like in India, there are two shocks. However, there is a difference in the names in both the countries. For example, in India, the lower house is called Lok Sabha and the upper house is called Rajya Sabha. Whereas in Pakistan, the lower house i.e. National Assembly is called Qaumi Assembly and the upper house i.e. Senate is called Aiwan-e-Bala.
There is also a big difference
The National Assembly i.e. Qaumi Assembly in Pakistan works like the Lok Sabha of India. But here the President is also a part of the Parliament. The President participates in both the houses of Pakistan. Whereas, this is not the case in India. In India, the President does not attend any House.
What is the Parliament there called?
In Pakistan, the Parliament is called Majlis-e-Shura. . Currently it is in Islamabad, Pakistan. However, before 1960 it used to take place in Karachi, Pakistan. Now let’s talk about how general elections are held here. Actually, there are 342 members in the National Assembly of Pakistan, out of which only 272 are elected by direct voting. There is no election for the remaining 70 candidates. Of these, there are 10 seats which are reserved for the traditional and religious minority communities of Pakistan. Their election is done under the rule of proportional representation.
Aiwan-e-Bala like Rajya Sabha
Pakistan has a Rajya Sabha like the Rajya Sabha in India. Aiwan-e-Bala which is also called Senate. It never dissolves. Its members keep changing from time to time. The tenure of the members here is 6 years. Aiwan-e-Bala has many special powers which the National Assembly does not have. Let us tell you, there is no provision to dissolve the Senate in the Constitution of Pakistan.
