In Bettiah, Bihar, two friends who had gone for a morning walk were crushed by an uncontrolled pickup van. In this accident, one youth died on the spot. While the other youth was seriously injured. The incident took place near the Paterwa petrol pump on the Bettiah-Navalpur main road in the Yogapatti police station area of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Pradeep Yadav (35), son of Lalan Yadav, a resident of Belbanwa village of Yogapatti in the district. While the injured person has been identified as Akbar Ansari (45), son of Moharram Mian. On receiving the information, the police reached the spot, took the body in their custody and sent it to GMCH Bettiah for postmortem and started investigating the case.
At the same time, family members said that Pradeep and Akbar were friends. On Friday morning, both of them had gone out for a morning walk together. As soon as they reached near Paterwa petrol pump on Bettiah-Navalpur main road, a speeding pickup van ran over both of them from behind. After that, the accused driver fled with the vehicle.
On receiving the information of the incident, the family members rushed to the Yogapatti Community Health Center and took both the injured to the hospital for treatment. The doctors on duty declared Pradeep dead. Pradeep was the eldest among three brothers. He has four small children. He used to work as a labourer to support his children. Meanwhile, Akbar is being treated at the Yogapatti Community Health Center. His condition remains critical.
Meanwhile, SHO Kanchan Kumar Bhaskar said that on the application of the family members, action will be taken by filing an FIR against the unknown driver. Police is investigating the matter.
