In this episode, the railway ticket refund scam has come to light, where the scammer calls himself a railway official and says that your ticket has been cancelled. If you want a refund, then tell your bank details. In the process of getting a refund, people are becoming victims of this cyber fraud by giving their bank details.
What is Railway Ticket Refund Scam
Scammers will call and introduce themselves as from the railway department and will ask for your bank details by giving any reason, which can include debit card or credit card number, OTP, ATM PIN, CVV number or PAN number and date of birth information. If you share this personal information with scammers, it will not take much time for your account to be emptied.
How to protect yourself from this scam
-Do not share your bank details like password, OTP and ATM PIN with anyone.
-Do not install any app on anyone’s request, otherwise the control of the device will go to the scammer.
-Do not react immediately to any unknown call. Do your work thoughtfully.
-In case of doubt, visit the official website of IRCTC and call their customer service number.
-Get information about refund from the official website
-IRCTC sends refund information only through official emails and messages. Bank details are never asked over the phone.
