Vijay Rathore / Gwalior, The holy month of Sawan has started from Tuesday, July 4. Apart from Rakshabandhan, many other festivals also come in this month. All these festivals seem incomplete without Bahadura sweets from Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh. The taste of its laddus is so unique that on the day of the festival there is a line to buy sweets. Many big personalities including Bharat Ratna late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee have also been convinced of the taste of these laddus.

There is a 95 years old laddu shop located in the city’s new market. This shop named Bahadura Sweets is famous in Gwalior and nearby districts. When there is a big event in Gwalior, most of the laddus go from here. If people believe, the taste of Bahadura Sweets laddus is so good that it melts as soon as you put it in your mouth. Vikas Sharma, the director of the shop told that this shop is named after his father. It has been almost 95 years since it started.

He told that when Atal Bihari Vajpayee used to live in Gwalior, he used to taste Bahadura’s laddoos. Later, even when he became the Prime Minister of India, he used to order Bahadura’s laddoos from his near and dear ones. Apart from this, he also liked the taste of Gulab Jamun made here.

This is how laddoos are prepared

Vikas told that even today laddoos are traditionally prepared at his place. For this gram flour is first prepared. Then it is given the form of boondi in desi ghee. Ghan is used for fine boondi. After this, laddoos are prepared by mixing boondi in sugar syrup. This process is done on a hardcore coal furnace. We do not use any type of gas stove etc. This is the love of the people that even after so many years they like our laddoos so much.
