People wait for the whole year for the Kachori they get in the fair. Puffed shortbread in the shape of Bhatura in which samosa, curd, pomegranate and various types of chutneys are added to enhance its taste. Just by looking at this shortbread, one feels like eating it. People call it Raj Kachori. Three Kachori stalls from Deoghar have been set up in the fair.

Kumar Rakesh, the stall operator of Maa Jammu Himalaya, says that he has been setting up stalls in the fair for 40 years. The people here like the taste of Raj Kachori very much. Due to which it is in great demand. Currently, more than 400 pieces of Raj Kachori are consumed daily at the stall. It is expected that its consumption will increase further in the coming time. During the 15-day fair, devotees not only from entire Hazaribagh but also from many districts of Jharkhand, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh go back after having tasted this Kachori. The price of one plate of Kachori is Rs 80, in which two people can eat to their heart’s content.

This is how Raj Kachori is prepared
Artisan Prakash Pandit tells that to make this, first the shortbread made of semolina and flour is filtered thoroughly for 1 hour. Then it is cooked at high temperature, so that the Kachori always remains puffy. Then samosa, chickpeas, papdi, pomegranate, almonds and many types of spices and chutneys are added to this kachori, which further enhances its taste.
