In Bettiah, two bogies of the train and the engine suddenly derailed. The train was going from Anand Bihar to Darbhanga. After the incident, an atmosphere of panic was created among the passengers. This accident took place near Harinagar station of Bagaha police district. It is said that train number 04068 was going from Anand Bihar to Darbhanga. However, there was no casualty in this accident. According to the information received, two bogies and the engine of the train derailed at around 12:03 am on Wednesday night. It is being told that some unknown person had applied vacuum brake, due to which this incident occurred.

However, due to the promptness and timely action of the Railways, no passenger was injured. Presently the derailed bogies and engine were separated from the train and parked on platform number three. With the help of Accident Relief Train – ART, the train was repaired and sent to Darbhanga at 3:55 pm. However, due to this incident, two trains were affected in which Gorakhpur Cantt-Narkatiyaganj Passenger (05498) was running late by five hours while Narkatiaganj-Gorakhpur (05450) was running late by about 10 hours. Other trains did not operate during night time, due to which passengers did not face much inconvenience.

Station Superintendent Yadunath Mahato said that immediate steps were taken to evacuate the passengers safely and send the train to its destination. The railway track has been repaired and traffic has been normalized by morning. Due to derailment of the train, traffic on the down line between Bhairoganj and Harinagar stations has been disrupted. However, train movement continued normally on the up line. Officials say that further action will be taken after a complete investigation of this incident. At present, the movement of vehicles is being controlled through upline.
