Havaldar committed suicide by shooting himself in the police line of Motihari. The constable died on the spot. As soon as the information about the incident was received, the police reached the spot and took the dead body into custody and sent it to Sadar Hospital for postmortem. The deceased Havaldar is said to be Shambhu Kumar (49), a resident of Nefra village of Silva police station in Nalanda district.
worried about going home
The deceased Havaldar was the bodyguard of ADJ-6. When he returned to the police line from duty on Saturday evening, he was completely calm. When the companions living with him asked him about going home, Shambhu Kumar replied that no, he does not want to go home yet. Then he went to his bed. At night everyone had dinner and went to sleep. At about 2.30 am, he got up from his bed and went to the bed on the verandah outside barrack number two and shot himself in the head with his service revolver. Hearing the sound of gunshot, everyone ran there. When his companions reached there, everyone was stunned. Shambhu Prasad was lying there soaked in blood. In a hurry, his fellow soldiers took Shambhu Prasad to Sadar Hospital for treatment where the doctors declared him dead.
Police is investigating
Regarding the incident, DSP Ramesh Kumar of Police Line says that Shambhu Kumar was the bodyguard of ADJ 6. He said that why Shambhu Kumar shot himself is not clear at the moment. The reasons for his suicide are being ascertained. The relatives have been informed about the incident.
daughter was married this year
Shambhu has three daughters and one son. The younger daughter was married on March 5 this year. One son is a civil engineer.
