Indira Kumari, a resident of Mahadalit Basti of Dubey Tola village of Parihar block area of Sitamarhi district of Bihar, is the first daughter who has passed the intermediate examination after matriculation. Indira has passed her intermediate exam with first division. Actually, Indira got inspiration from ‘Save Childhood Movement’. After that, with the flame of knowledge, she herself went out from Mahadalit Basti Dubey Tola to inspire others, eradicating the darkness of illiteracy. Now everyone is appreciating the passion of Indira, a member of the Children’s Committee.

When the exam results came, the villagers, under the leadership of Indira’s teacher Chandan Manjhi, congratulated Indira Kumari. Indira Kumari has given the credit of this success to her parents along with teacher Chandan Manjhi and Bachpan Bachao Andolan. Chandan Manjhi, the first graduate youth and member of the Child Protection Committee of Mahadalit Basti, says that history has been written in the village due to Indira passing the examination. This is the result of tireless efforts.

According to the information, Indira Kumari’s father Mahesh Manjhi works as a laborer in Tamil Nadu. Whereas, Indira’s mother Nirmala Devi is a housewife. Indira is the eldest among her two brothers and one sister. The special thing is that Indira Kumari is a member of the Children’s Committee formed by Bachpan Bachao Andolan. She makes the girls of her village aware of education. Inspired by Indira Kumari, other parents in the village have also become aware about the education of their daughters.
