Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Government Big Decision Bans Auto E-Rickshaws for School Transport from 1 April 2025

Bihar News: In Bihar, children will no longer be able to go to school by auto and e-rickshaws. In view of the safety of children, the Transport Department has imposed a complete ban on this from 1 April 2025. The government has taken this decision in view of the ever increasing road accidents in Bihar. This order has been issued by Bihar Police Headquarters Traffic Division. It has been directed to the SSP and SP of all the districts through a letter that it should be fully implemented from 1 April.

It has been said in the order that the Bihar government has decided to ban the operation of auto rickshaw/e-rickshaws from April 01, 2025 for the transport of school children/students. In this regard, the Transport Department, Government of Bihar notification No.-06/Vividh (E. Rickshaw)-07/2015 Transport is released, on the order of which it is mentioned that e-rickshaw/e carts will not be used in the transport of school children.

Auto and e-rickshaw operations continue indiscriminately
Explain that in view of the increase in road accidents, on January 16, the Road Safety Council had informed the Transport Department by submitting a memorandum, after which a meeting was issued on 30 January under the chairmanship of the Development Commissioner to impose a ban on bringing or taking school students to school by auto and e-rickshaws. After that, publicity was also done through newspapers and media. But even after that no action has been taken yet.

E-rickshaws are being operated indiscriminately for the transport of school children. Which is inviting painful road accidents. Now the Transport Department has adopted strictness on this and has resorted to the police headquarters and the headquarters has now decided to curb it through police action.

Accidents with children will be controlled
It has also been written in the letter that in the said light, it is requested that this information should be broadcast between all the stakeholders and school management, guardians, transport management etc. to manage the operation of e-rickshaw toto or auto for transportation of school children students under their respective districts and ensure that it should be implemented effectively.

Along with this, it has been said that what action has been taken on this office will have to be told. The department has written that there have been many such cases which are sent to school children by auto or e-rickshaws, a major road accident occurred, in which many children have died in it. Now to stop it, the Transport Department has taken this decision and now the police will try to stop it by adopting strictness on it.

Especially impact will be seen in Patna
The impact of this decision of the government will be seen especially in the capital Patna. About 4 thousand autos and e-rickshaws bring children to school in Patna. Patna’s DTO Upendra Kumar Pal has already said that it is not safe to send children to school with auto and e-rickshaws. At the same time, Patna Traffic SP said that it is illegal to deliver children to school with auto and e-rickshaws.
