In Samastipur, a person from the same village murdered an elderly woman by slitting her throat. The incident took place in Jhakhra Madhurapur village of Sarayaranjan police station area. The deceased was identified as Manju Devi, the elderly wife of Naval Kishore Jha, resident of Jhakhra village, while the accused has been identified as Ganpat Kunwar (25), son of Naresh Kunwar, resident of the same village.
Advised to stay away from death
Regarding the incident, police say that Naval Kishore Jha’s elderly wife Manju Devi lived alone at home. She had opened a small shop at her home, in which she sold some items like gutkha, cigarettes etc. Ganpat from the village often used to come to his shop and buy gutkha. But during this time Manju Devi always forbade him from eating gutkha. Same thing happened that day also. Ganpat came to buy gutkha and Manju Devi told him not to eat gutkha again. Ganpat found Manju Devi’s advice bad even at that time but that day he decided to end this story.
The incident took place late at night
At night, when all the people of the village slept, the accused Ganpat reached there alone and tied the woman’s hands and legs and took her towards the field and then slit her throat with a sharp weapon, due to which she died on the spot.
The accused used to roam around with the deceased’s mobile phone.
SP Sanjay Pandey said that the arrested youth Ganpat has accepted his involvement in this murder case. On the basis of the body mark of the youth, the police have also recovered Ganpat’s blood stained clothes and a sharp weapon, a turban. SP Sanjay Pandey said that the audacity of the accused was such that even the mobile phone of the deceased woman used to roam around with Ganpat, which has been recovered by the police.
