The rivers of the district are in spate due to rain in Purnia for three consecutive days. Rivers like Mahananda, Kanakai and Parman flowing in Bayasi are flowing above the danger mark. The situation here is terrible. Erosion has taken a catastrophic form in Tarabari of Bayasi block. Here the structure of a mosque got submerged in the Kanakai river. A 28 second live video of this incident has surfaced. It is visible in the video how the structure of the mosque got submerged in the river in just a few seconds.
The video is from Tarabari of West Tola of Tarabari Panchayat of Bayasi. Here the waves of the Kanakai river cut the land from within to such an extent that within just seven seconds a structure of the mosque got buried in the womb of Kanakai. In this 28-second video, three children and a young man, frightened by the havoc of the Kankai River, can be seen running and hiding in houses from one side of the river. It can be clearly seen in the video that the strong flow of Kanakai hits the surface of the structure of the mosque, after which within a few seconds the structure takes water samadhi in the waves of Kanakai.
At the seventh second of the video, movement is seen in the structure and then in just a few seconds the structure gets completely submerged in water. At the 14th to 20th second of the video, this structure completely dissolves in water. In this video, the movement of some villagers who were frightened by the entire incident can be seen. Many more pictures of Tarabari village adjacent to the Kankai river have come to light. In this, the Kankai river can be seen swallowing part of the land and some people are seen building houses with their hands due to fear of erosion.
Not only the mosque but till now eight houses have taken water samadhi in the waves of Kankai river in Tarabari, West Tola of Tarabari Panchayat. Now dozens of houses in this village are under threat of erosion. Erosion victims include Hafiz Abdul Wali, Molvi Munna, Mushtaq Alam, Abid Hussain, Razi Ahmed, Sabar, Margub Alam and others.
