A fierce clash broke out between the two groups in Nalanda, the home district of the chief minister, on Friday during a procession marking the end of Ram Navami. Uproar started after stone pelting near a religious place in Dewanganj area of Laheri police station area of Biharsharif. During the sloganeering of the procession, after stone-pelting, people from both the sides clashed with each other and there was heavy stone-pelting from both the sides. Angry people also started arson. People from one side fired. In this, six youths involved in the procession were injured. The condition of two is serious. Earlier, 9 people including two girls were injured in the blockade. Police and administration say that the situation is peaceful at the moment. Section 144 has been imposed in the entire city.

Nalanda district DM Shashank Shubhankar said that the situation is peaceful now. People have returned to their homes. Power supply has been restored. The incident is being investigated through CCTV footage, drone camera and videography. The miscreants are being identified, strict action will be taken. Magistrates and the force have been deputed across the city. There is no information about any mosque being set on fire.
Nalanda SP Ashok Mishra said that we are patrolling the area. The situation is peaceful now. Patrolling will be done all night and tomorrow morning. Section 144 has been imposed and internet has been requested to be suspended. The miscreants are being identified. An FIR will be lodged against them and strict action will be taken.
Biharsharif Sadar Hospital’s doctor Dr. Vishwajit Kumar told that 14 people were brought here. Four people had bullet injuries, out of which three have been referred to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). One person is admitted in ICU. The condition of all is stable.
