A middle-aged man died after drinking poisonous liquor in Darbhanga. Family members say that death occurred due to drinking poisonous liquor. There is also an allegation against the police that after preparing a report of death due to forced consumption of poisonous substance, they got the post-mortem done. The matter is of Atarbel Tara Toll of Singhwada police station area. The deceased was identified as Chhote Sahni (66), son of late Gurjar Sahni.

Regarding the incident, family members say that on Sunday around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, Chhote Sahni’s health suddenly deteriorated. Saliva started coming out of the mouth and vision from the eyes stopped. Due to the sudden deterioration in his health, the family members got worried and hurriedly admitted him to Singhwada PHC, but due to his condition being serious, the doctors referred Chhote Sahni for better treatment. The family admitted him to DMCH emergency, where the old man died during treatment.
Came home from the farm after drinking alcohol
Family members say that on Sunday the elderly Chhote Sahni had reached home under the influence of alcohol. His body was shaking. He told that as soon as he returned home the deceased complained of burning sensation in the chest. Then after some time, when he lost his vision, we immediately admitted him to the hospital. He told that Chhote Sahni was a habitual drunkard and the entire village knew it. Still the police are not agreeing and are shrugging it off by saying that the death was due to consumption of poisonous substance.
The family said that the death was due to drinking alcohol, the police forcibly got the poisonous substance consumed.
On Monday, the relatives of deceased Chhote Sahni were seen crying near the DMCH post-mortem department. The crying family members have accused the police of forcibly recording the statement. In this regard, the son-in-law of the deceased, Rambabu Sahni, says that my father-in-law died due to drinking poisonous liquor, but the police has registered a case saying that it was consumption of poisonous substance. He accused the police of pressurizing him to take his statement. After post-mortem the body was handed over to the family.
SP said- will have to wait till the post mortem report comes
In this regard, SSP Jagunath Reddy says that the matter has come to his notice, it has been investigated by the local police station. Prima facie, it has come to light that health deteriorated after consuming pesticide. The post-mortem of the deceased has been conducted and handed over to the relatives. Correct information will be available only after the post mortem report comes.
