In Begusarai, half a dozen people, including their brother and cousin, beat their teacher brother to death in a dispute over a piece of land. The incident is of Kusmahout Ramanand Nagar of Neema Chandpura police station area. The deceased is Jayjay Ram Mahato, a resident of Kusmahout. In relation to the incident, Amit Kumar, the son of the deceased, says that his father Jai Jairam Mahato was currently working as a panchayat teacher in Barbigha village of Ballia police station area. Due to Sunday being a holiday, he was present at home only. Meanwhile, a dispute started between Jayjay Ram and his own brother Hareram Das and cousin Kapo Mahto over a piece of land. Things got worse in no time and both his brothers along with other members of their family thrashed Jai Jairam Mahato fiercely. Till the time people could understand something, everyone together killed Jai Jairam Mahato by beating him with sticks.
The dispute was going on for one and a half years
In relation to the incident, Amit Kumar, the son of the deceased, says that a dispute was going on for about one and a half years regarding a piece of land. Amit Kumar told that before the incident, his father Jayjay Ram Mahato had sent him to the market to bring seeds. By the time he returned home with the seeds, the incident had already happened.
Had received death threats in the past as well
Amit Kumar, the son of the deceased, has alleged that Jai Jairam Mahato had also received death threats in this dispute. When Neema reached Chandpura police station to make this complaint, the police station chief Amit Kant did not take the application. Then he appealed to Begusarai SP Yogendra Kumar, but nothing worked there either. Then after getting tired, he applied in CGM. Local people say that if the police had paid attention in time or taken proper action, they would not have been killed today.

In relation to the incident, when Amar Ujala tried to get information from Neema Chandpura police station in-charge Amit Kant, he told that he died of a heart attack. He denied being beaten to death. While there are not one or two marks of injury on the body of the deceased, which are testifying that teacher Jayjayram Mahto was not killed by heart attack but by beating. Many questions have started to arise from such statements of the police station chief. At present, the post-mortem of the dead body is being done at Sadar Hospital.
