Making a mockery of the prohibition law implemented in Bihar since 2016, a dramatic incident took place on Friday in Bihar Sharif of Nalanda district. A drunken man created a high-voltage drama at Hospital Chowk. Due to this, the traffic system collapsed and once again questions were raised on the effectiveness of the prohibition law.
Drunkard created ruckus on the road
According to the information, in the evening a person reached Hospital Chowk on a bicycle and, drunk, lay down in the middle of the road. Eyewitnesses told that sometimes he lay down in front of vehicles and sometimes kept singing film songs. Due to his actions the traffic was completely disrupted and people gathered. After this, the police team of Dial 112 deployed at the spot took immediate action and took the drunkard into custody. The police had to struggle a lot to remove him because he was doing dramatic acts while singing the song ‘Tere Ishq Mein Main Jogi Ho Gaya’.
Laheri police station chief Ranjit Kumar Rajak said that the accused has been brought to the police station and is being interrogated. His identity and from where he purchased the liquor is being ascertained. The incident has happened at a time when the Bihar government is claiming strict implementation of liquor ban. However, such incidents make it clear that implementing the law on the ground is still a major challenge.

Complete prohibition is in force in Bihar since April 2016. Despite this, incidents of liquor smuggling and drug addiction continue to be reported from different parts of the state. This incident once again highlights the shortcomings in the implementation of the state’s prohibition policy.
