Patna Police has arrested 10 members of the child lifter gang in Patna and surrounding areas. Doctors and nurses are also included in this gang. Patna Police has raided and arrested 10 people including four women. The police have also recovered two newborn children, whom these people were carrying with the intention of stealing and selling them. However, the hospital manager manages to escape. Police are conducting raids to arrest him. After verification of the case, the process of canceling the license of the hospital has also started.

Patna City SP West Abhinav Dhiman said that on Friday, the police received information that under the Bachpan Bachao Abhiyan, some people were running away after stealing a newborn child from RK Palace Bakhtiyarpur near Manipal Hospital Pahadi and Devam Hospital Bypass Road. As soon as the information was received, the police, showing their activeness in this case, arrested the members of the child lifter gang near the railway crossing in Khagaul, Patna. The police have found two newborn children from them. Their age is said to be around 3 to 4 days.

MBBS is not a doctor’s degree

According to the police, the gang members used to sell each child for between Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 2 lakh. Those arrested are said to be Parmanand Yadav, Amit Kumar, Akash Kumar, Satish Kumar, Sonu Kumar and Rahul Kumar. Along with this, four women include Sanju Devi, Usha Devi, Archana Kumari and Sangeeta Kumari. Police believe that Usha Devi is working as a nurse at Phulwari Sharif Community Health Centre. Parmanand Kumar Yadav calls himself Dr. Parmanand, even though he does not have a MBBS doctorate degree. He is said to be the director of Manipal Hospital.

Regarding this matter, Dr. RK Choudhary, in-charge of Phulwari Sharif Community Health Center, said that Usha Devi is working as a class IV employee in Phulwari Sharif Community Health Center. He told that as soon as the matter came to light, he informed the Civil Surgeon of Patna. Following the instructions of the Civil Surgeon, action will be taken to suspend Usha Devi. Police believe that in this incident, Naveen Kumar, the operator of Devam Hospital, managed to escape from the police. At present both the newborn children have been kept in the Child Welfare Centre. Police are trying to contact the families of the children. After the name of the hospital was exposed in this case, the police is also deeply investigating the activities of the hospital. Police say that if the hospital’s statement is found true in the investigation, then a letter will be written to the government to cancel their license.
