Aurangabad police has achieved a major success in the campaign against drugs in Bihar. Amba police station here has recovered a large consignment of ganja from a photo framing shop. The cost of 17.2 kg ganja recovered from the shop is estimated to be around two lakhs.
Amba SHO Rahul Raj said that he received secret information that narcotic substance ganja was being sold under the guise of a photo framing shop on Amba-Nabinagar Road. He informed his senior officers about this. On the instructions of senior officers, he along with local Zonal Officer cum Magistrate Chandra Prakash, Assistant Commandant Shivank Pandey, SSB’s 29 Battalion Kala Pahad Camp team reached the shop to raid to check the veracity of the information. During this, the shopkeeper present in the shop introduced himself as Vinod Sharma (50), resident of Mudila.
During this, the team searched the shop. During the search, 17.2 kg ganja wrapped in white double foil and 500 ml foreign liquor were recovered from a steel box kept in the shop. As soon as the consignment of ganja was found, the police arrested the shopkeeper. In this case, the police have registered case number-127/24 under section-8/20(B)(1)(B) of IPC, NDPS Act and 30A Bihar Liquor Prohibition and Excise (Amendment) Act-2018.
The police have sent the arrested shopkeeper Vinod Sharma to judicial custody. Superintendent of Police Swapna Gautam Meshram has praised the work of Amba police station in exposing the drug trade. She has assured the public that the police will continue to take strict action against the drug trade.
