The miscreant sprinkled petrol on a tea shopkeeper and set him on fire at the bus stand of Saharsa district headquarters. The incident is of Saturday. The tea shopkeeper injured in the fire is undergoing treatment in a private hospital. The condition of injured Khagesh Chaudhary, a resident of Khagaria district and living at Islamia Chowk of the city, remains critical. There was panic in the area after the incident. There was a crowd of people nearby. The accused, who was running away from the angry people, was chased away and caught.

Here, Vandana Jha, wife of the victim tea shopkeeper, told that she is a teacher in a private school. Information was received that someone had burnt her husband. After this she reached the bus stand. With the help of local people, the injured husband was brought to the hospital for treatment. During this time someone informed the police about the matter.

Here, as soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and started investigation. The police took the accused into custody. He was identified as Dinesh Mallik, a resident of the bus stand. Vandana Jha told that Dinesh Mallik used to borrow tea and other items from the shop but was not returning the money. On top of that, it was Rs 15 thousand. When he came there again on Saturday to bring it, my husband agreed. On which he came from behind and sprinkled petrol on my husband and set him on fire. There is an appeal to the police to give the harshest punishment to the accused.
