15 years ago, a bridge was built in the middle of a field with the help of the then BJP MLA late Sanjeev Jha. But after the bridge was built on the border of two assembly constituencies, Mahisi and Kahra, none of the public representatives of both the assemblies thought it fit to work towards building a connecting road, let alone see the bridge built at a cost of lakhs.

A bridge was constructed in the field to connect Saharsa to Supaul main road

A bridge was constructed in the field to connect Lalganj village situated on the border of Mahisi and Kahra assembly of Saharsa district to Saharsa Supaul main road, but no access road was constructed on either side. Due to this, this bridge is proving useless for the people. Local people say that this bridge was constructed during the last period of the tenure (2005-2010) of the then BJP MLA late Sanjeev Jha under his MLA scheme, in which access road was also to be constructed. Soil was also dumped for the road from Saharsa Supaul main road to the bridge. Elections were held a few days later and he lost the election. Nothing happened after this. Now the bridge is proving useless. People say that after the western part of the bridge, the other assembly Mahisi comes. The road has not been constructed there either, due to which the villagers have to cover a distance of two to three kilometers instead of half a kilometer.

Road became a jungle due to border dispute

This road and bridge, stuck between two assembly constituencies and two panchayats, has turned into a jungle. Whereas this is the main road of Lalganj. Locals Umakant Pathak, Satanjeev Pathak, Shobhakant Pathak, Manoj Kumar said that this was the main road of the village. For the last ten years, this road has become defunct due to the indifference of the public representatives. As it falls between two assembly constituencies, both the MLAs do not consider it appropriate to pay attention to it, and as it falls between two panchayats, Rahua and Lalganj Panchayat, no panchayat level public representative takes any initiative in this direction. Local people said that they are tired of pleading to the MLA and MP for construction. Ward member of ward 13 of Lalganj Panchayat Pramod Pathak says that after the tenure of the then MLA late Sanjeev Jha ended, this road and bridge have been left to fend for themselves. The same two panchayats in which about 150 yards of Rahua Panchayat comes in Kahra block and the rest Lalganj Panchayat comes in Satarkattaya block. Due to lack of mutual harmony between the two panchayats, this bridge is proving to be useless without a road.
