Muzaffarpur police caught two of the accused with weapons who shot dead the famous former sarpanch of Meenapur police station area of the district. Both of them had come home to participate in the Chhath festival and were planning to commit some major crime again. During the investigation today evening, Meenapur police station arrested them along with weapons and cartridges.
A total of four miscreants were involved in the firing incident that took place in Meenapur last two months, out of which two criminals were caught today during vehicle checking. During this time, the police have recovered a Pulsar bike, pistol and two live cartridges. After the incident, Muzaffarpur police had conducted raids in many states and districts from Nepal in search of the accused. This evening, they were trying to carry out some major incident using Pulsar bike, but the police caught them during investigation. More than half a dozen cases are registered against both of them including robbery, murder, dacoity and Arms Act. Police are conducting raids to arrest other members of this gang. Let us tell you that both the miscreants had come to their village for Chhath Puja.
Giving information about the whole matter, Rural SP Vidyasagar said that on the late evening of 26th August, an FIR was registered in Meenapur police station, in which 4 criminals riding a bike had reached a grocery shop located in Neura Bazaar with the intention of looting. During this time, the criminals captured the grocer at gunpoint, seeing which the grocer’s younger brother, former Sarpanch Prabhakar Mishra, came to save him. As soon as the criminals caught sight of them, they opened fire on the former sarpanch and fled from the spot. Both of them were brought to the hospital for treatment in the same injured condition, where the former sarpanch died during treatment. All the accused in this case were still absconding. Vehicle checking campaign was being conducted at Vishwakarma Chowk in Meenapur police station area. Meanwhile, two youths riding on Pulsar bike, one of whom was identified as Dharmendra alias Chhotu, while the other was identified as Bittu Sahni. Many cases are registered against both of them. These criminals have admitted their involvement in the incident.
