These days, the series of collapse of bridges and culverts is continuing in Bihar. In this sequence, a part of an under-construction culvert collapsed in Gaya on Friday. The news of collapse of a part of the culvert spread like wildfire among the villagers. As soon as the information was received, the villagers started gathering slowly. Angered by the incident of collapse of the under-construction culvert, the villagers are accusing of using substandard material in the construction work. The incident is of Bathani block Katari village.
Villagers protested against the use of substandard material
Giving information about the incident, the villagers said that the casting of the culvert under construction was done in Katari village of Bathani block of Gaya district. On Friday, suddenly a part of that culvert collapsed and fell into the water. The villagers say that during the construction we had protested against the use of substandard material, but the contractor did not listen to us. Then we also informed the concerned officials about this. But no attention was paid to the complaint of the villagers. As a result, a part of the culvert collapsed. This culvert is being constructed by the Minor Irrigation Division, Gaya. Now after receiving information about the collapse of the culvert, the concerned officials have started investigating.
Villagers made serious allegations
Villagers say that Gaya Minor Irrigation Department is constructing RCC culvert, pond and ahar in Katari village areas at a cost of about one crore 54 lakh rupees. Villagers alleged that the department is not paying attention to the construction work. Now the villagers are demanding action against those careless officers and workers. At present, the officials of the department related to the matter are busy gathering information about the whole matter.
