Devotees will no longer be able to enter the Mahabodhi temple in Bodh Gaya with mobile phones and cameras. The district administration has taken this decision keeping in mind the safety of the temple premises. DM Dr. Naksha Rajan SM has directed that all the devotees visiting the temple will have to submit their mobiles and cameras before entering. The Mahabodhi Temple is a very sacred site for Buddhist religious people, where millions of devotees and tourists come from abroad every year. Recently, security agencies issued an alert on the possible threat, after which this step has been taken. The administration believes that by banning mobile and camera, the security system can be tightened.

Strict monitoring in the temple

CCTV cameras are already installed in the temple premises, but now the deployment of security personnel will be increased. Also, bags and other items will also be investigated in depth. However, this decision may cause some inconvenience to the devotees, but keeping in mind the security, the administration has taken this decision. The temple management has appealed to the devotees to follow this decision and cooperate with the administration.

Administration issued guidelines

Special counters will be made for the devotees to deposit mobile and camera before entering the temple. The administration has clarified that strict action will be taken against those who violate this order. The DM said that all the devotees should follow the instructions of the administration so that the security of the temple can be ensured. He also stated that the purpose of this ban is not to inconvenience anyone, but to prioritize the safety of devotees.

BTMC members discount

BTMC Secretary Dr. Mahashweta Maharathi said that since the year 2015, some regular devotees who used to go to the Mahabodhi temple every day for worship at the Mahabodhi temple after the 2013 bomb blast incident. He was given a mobile pass. Which includes some other people including some Buddhist monasteries, Buddhist monks, BTMC members, enlightened citizens of the city, organizers of annual worship and members of the committee. The purpose of giving mobile pass was that the said people should not have any kind of problem and can keep external coordination as per their requirement even while in the temple. More than 250 mobile passes were released. Now they too have been banned from carrying mobile and camera in the Mahabodhi temple. However, members of BTMC can use monks and employees mobile.
