Expansion
Lalu Prasad Yadav’s party Rashtriya Janata Dal, which was in power with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar till 11 am yesterday in Bihar, is still effective. The newly formed government will not lose touch with RJD for the next 14 days. The ruling party has 128 MLAs as against 114 of the current opposition, hence the challenge of proving majority was not there, otherwise these 14 days would have been more troublesome. In view of this technical problem, the Cabinet meeting was not held immediately after the formation of the new government on Sunday and preparations were made leisurely today. In this meeting, the policy of keeping the party free from RJD for 14 days will be approved.
The entire exercise is in the name of Awadh Bihari Chaudhary.
From RJD’s side, National President Lalu Prasad Yadav or former Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav are not a cause of trouble. Sankat Assembly Speaker is Awadh Bihari Chaudhary. He is from RJD and as soon as he assumed the post of Assembly Speaker in the Grand Alliance government, he established the tradition of running the House in a different way. It was seen that he used to quickly remove the proposals as per the then government. The government has changed, but the head is still Nitish Kumar. More than the CM and the ministers of Janata Dal United, the Bharatiya Janata Party has an idea of what problems will arise if Choudhary is the Assembly Speaker, hence, shortly after the formation of the government on Sunday, BJP’s Nand Kishore Yadav filed a vote of no-confidence against Awadh Bihari Choudhary. Notice of the proposal was sent to the Assembly Secretary. Since as per the rules the no-confidence motion has to be brought 14 days in advance, Choudhary can continue in his chair for that many days if he wishes.
Its effect will be visible on the cabinet today
The new government of the state is holding a cabinet meeting on Monday. The impact of these 14 days will be clearly visible in this meeting. The government does not want a budget session in the Assembly with Awadh Bihari Chaudhary in the chair. The budget session of Bihar Legislature was scheduled to start from February 5, but now the cabinet will keep it from Monday, February 12. This proposal will be approved in the cabinet and the decision to hold the budget session from 12-13 February. Apart from this, it remains to be seen what decisions are taken in the new cabinet.
