The double-decker bus of Namaste Bihar Travels used to leave from Sitamarhi every day, but on Tuesday, due to lack of passengers in Sitamarhi, it left from Bihar’s smallest district Shivhar. This bus left for Delhi via Motihari. Therefore, the number of people from Shivhar and Motihari among the dead is high. Six people of the same family, residents of Fenhara in Motihari, have died. This horrific road accident took place on Wednesday morning on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh. The bus overturned several times on the highway after colliding with a tanker. 18 passengers died in the accident, while more than that were injured. Unnao police has taken the bodies into custody and started investigation. Unnao DM Gaurang Rathi told ‘Amar Ujala’ that the District Magistrates of three districts of Bihar are constantly in touch with him. The process is going on from identifying the bodies to sending them to Bihar.
CM Nitish Kumar announced ex-gratia grant
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has expressed grief over this accident and consoled the families of the deceased. The Chief Minister has announced to give an ex-gratia grant of Rs 2 lakh to the dependents of the deceased from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the dependents of the deceased residents of Bihar in this accident. The Chief Minister has directed the Resident Commissioner, New Delhi to establish necessary coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government and ensure proper treatment and all possible assistance to the people injured in the accident. The Chief Minister has also wished for the speedy recovery of all the injured in the accident.

As soon as the news of the death of Asfaq (42), Md. Islam (35), Munchun Khatoon (38), Gulnaz Khatoon (12), Kamrun Nesha (30) and three-year-old Sohail (3) reached their house in Fenhara, there was chaos. People from the surrounding area started gathering. Apart from this, Motihari SP Kantesh Kumar Mishra has confirmed the death of seven people from different places of East Champaran district. These include Salim and Shamim, sons of Mohammed Aslam of Pipra Kothi, Jai Syed, son of Mohammed, resident of Madhuban, Phool Mohammed, son of Nasrullah Diwan of Motihari, Rupesh Kumar, son of Vinod, resident of Motihari, Meraj Alam, resident of Adapur and Baiju Kumar of Motihari.

The news of the death of 27-year-old Deepak Kumar (son of Lakhan Lal), a resident of Block Road Nagar Panchayat of Sheohar district and 28-year-old Shivdayal Pandit (son of Kameshwar Pandit), a resident of Lalgarh Cantonment Maksudpur Kararia, has reached their homes. Lalbabu Das (father of Ram Surat Das), Rampravesh Kumar Das (father of Lalbabu Das), Bharat Bhushan Das (father of Lalbabu) of Hirmma police station area of Sheohar district, Mohammad Saddam, a resident of Sheohar city, Neetu, a resident of Dhanhara and Rajnish Kumar, a resident of Jahangirpur are said to be injured.
