The case is of GMCH, Purnia, where the nurse posted in the labor room left the newborn on the table for 25 minutes after not getting Rs 2000 in the bag. Since the family did not have Rs 2,000, they gave Rs 100 to the nurse, but by that time the condition of the newborn had deteriorated. The family members immediately took the newborn to the doctor, where the doctors declared the newborn dead. After this the family members started creating ruckus. The Superintendent of Purnia GMCH has constituted a committee to investigate the matter. The family members have given a written application to the Superintendent of Purnia GMCH demanding action in this regard.

Giving information about the incident, Pritam Vishwas, a resident of Begna under Mahalgaon police station area of ​​Araria district, said that when his wife went into labor pain at four o’clock on Thursday afternoon, he brought the woman to Purnia GMCH. Here the nurse and other staff members admitted his wife with great difficulty, but were negligent in her treatment. Not only this, when his wife gave birth to a child at 09 pm on Thursday night, the nurse working in Purnia GMCH demanded Rs 2000 as compensation. They did not have Rs 2,000, so they gave Rs 100 to the nurse. The nurse threw away 100 rupees and instead of giving the child to them, the nurse wrapped it in a cloth, placed it on the table and ran away from there.

After the death of the newborn, the family members created a ruckus

Family members told that since he did not have that much money with him, he took a loan from his friends and arranged for Rs 2,000 and then tried to give it to the nurse. By that time the child’s condition had deteriorated. Seeing the deteriorating health of the child, the family members started creating ruckus. Hearing the noise, the doctor also reached there. Then the doctor examined the child, but by then the child had died. After the death of the newborn, the family members created a ruckus. Purnia GMCH’s Dr. Tarkishore along with other GMCH administration team and Phanishwar Nath Renu TOP police also reached the labor room and started pacifying the family members. But the family was not ready to accept. After much persuasion the matter was pacified. The family was asked to submit a written application.

Demanded action against the accused nurse

The family members have made a written demand to the Superintendent of Purnia GMCH to take action against the insensitivity of the nurse citing the reason for the death of the newborn. GMCH Superintendent Dr. Sanjay Kumar said that information about the incident has been given by the GMCH team. An investigation committee team is being formed to investigate the matter. Further action will be taken on the basis of the report of the inquiry committee.
