A video of three-time parliamentarian and former BJP MP Rama Devi, who has presided over the Lok Sabha proceedings, is going viral. In this, she is saying that the Supreme Court has given life imprisonment to RJD leader Munna Shukla in the murder case of her husband Brij Bihari Prasad, that this could happen only due to the pressure of Home Minister Amit Shah. The Supreme Court had sentenced two accused, including Munna Shukla, the Rashtriya Janata Dal candidate from Vaishali in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, to life imprisonment in the murder of former minister Brij Bihari Prasad.

Rama Devi had earlier come into limelight with her big statement regarding RJD President Lalu Prasad Yadav. Then she had said that Lalu had got her husband murdered to become the Chief Minister. Former minister Brij Bihari Prasad was murdered in 1998 near Indira Gandhi Institute of Ayurvedic Sciences in Patna. In this case, the lower court had found six accused including Bahubali Munna Shukla and Suraj Bhan guilty, however, the Patna High Court had acquitted all these accused citing lack of evidence and terming the sentencing decision as wrong. After this, CBI and Rama Devi had appealed in the Supreme Court, the decision on which has come this week.

Asked to surrender within 15 days

The Supreme Court asked the convicts Mantu Tiwari and former MLA Shukla to surrender within 15 days. However, the top court gave the benefit of doubt to six other accused, including former MP Suraj Bhan Singh, and upheld the decision to acquit them as per the High Court order. The bench said that the charges against Mantu and Vijay Kumar Shukla alias Munna Shukla under sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC would have been proved. They will have to surrender within 15 days.
