Just 16 months after marriage, the in-laws murdered a newly married woman and made her body disappear. The deceased has been identified as Rani Singh, wife of Pritesh Singh, resident of Bhatgai village of Taraiya police station area. The deceased was the only daughter of Raghavendra Singh, resident of Tulapur (Sarai Sansara) of Lilapur police station area under Pratapgarh district of Uttar Pradesh. Raghavendra Singh has filed an FIR at Taraiya police station in Saran district, accusing Rani Singh’s husband Pritesh Singh, mother-in-law Kiran Singh, father-in-law Suresh Singh, brother-in-law Pritam Singh and sister-in-law Rajni Singh, besides husband’s friend Kundan Sah, resident of Manjhopur.

Raghavendra Singh, father of the deceased, told that his daughter Rani Singh was married on 29 August 2023 to Pritesh Singh, son of Surendra Singh, resident of Bhatgai village of Taraiya police station area under Saran district of Bihar. After marriage, my daughter Rani started being harassed by her husband, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. Because they were pressurizing Rani to get the property in her name in Mumbai transferred to her name. When Rani was not obeyed, she was murdered on December 24 and her in-laws made her body disappear.

Both Rani and Pritesh had a love marriage of their own free will in Mumbai. Because Rani lived with her family in Mumbai, whereas Pritesh lived next to her house in Mumbai. Gradually their eyes fell in love, then they fell in love and both got married of their own free will. Two months ago, there was the wedding of Rani’s sister, in which both the lovers had come to Pratapgarh in UP. Then from there Pritesh came to his village Taraiya with his wife Rani, where everything was going well for two months. During this time a sudden incident took place.

After the FIR was registered, the house of the accused was raided late in the evening by Marhaura-02 SDPO Amarnath, Police Inspector Ashok Kumar Singh, Police Station Head Ashutosh Kumar Singh, Additional Police Station Head Niranjan Kumar and many others. Along with interrogating the local villagers, the police is busy scanning the CCTV cameras installed nearby. In this regard, Taraiya police station in-charge Ashutosh Kumar Singh said that the incident is being investigated by registering an FIR on the statement of the father of the deceased. At present all the accused have left the house and are absconding. Police are conducting raids to arrest the accused.
