Expansion
Rohini Acharya, daughter of former Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, has written a very long post. After her father’s angiography, Rohini Acharya is once again seen gearing up. Political pundits say that after the defeat in the Lok Sabha, Rohini may try her luck in the assembly elections. However, there has been no response from RJD or Lalu family so far, but after reading Rohini’s social media post, people are speculating that she may enter the electoral fray. Rohini also attacked the BJP and JDU leaders without naming them, calling them feudal minded. ‘Amar Ujala’ is reading to you the things Rohini said on social media as it is…
Rohini wrote that my faith in my father, who is as firm as the Himalayas for the implementation of the concept of social, economic justice and is a god-like person committed to democracy and the betterment of the people, is more than in God. I am fortunate that God has given me the privilege of being the daughter of a great personality like Lalu ji. Growing up in a political environment, in the company of my father and during my short political activism, I have understood very well that the political expression of the power gained by the poor, the exploited, the deprived, the Dalits and the marginalized population since 1990 is the essence of my father Lalu ji’s politics.
The class infected with feudal thinking does not like Lalu
Rohini further wrote that it was because of Lalu ji’s efforts that the backward, the deprived and the Dalits became deeply connected to the democracy in Bihar and due to such connections, democracy is functioning in our country. The other thing is that the class infected with narrow, feudal thinking, which talks superficially about change but runs away from reality, does not like it at all that a buffalo herder becomes a mass leader and gives a new direction to the country, society and politics. Those coming from marginalized groups and communities should be given a chance to lead the common people.
The son of a shoe-shoe stitcher was made an MLA and a minister
The RJD leader further wrote that Lalu ji gave the son of a shoe-mender an opportunity to become an MLA and a minister. He gave him the responsibility of running the ministry-administration-government. He tried to connect the deprived to the mainstream by making a stone-breaking woman an MP. He gave the responsibility of playing the role of a policy maker as a member of the Upper House to a woman who irons clothes. No sensible person can deny this fact that Lalu ji was the biggest political victory of the backward, Dalit, poor class and minorities as MP, Leader of Opposition, Chief Minister, Union Minister and even today Lalu ji is their sense of pride.
Backward-poor-dalit class got recognition for the first time
He wrote that Lalu ji gave the backward-poor-dalit class a face of power and politics in his own form for the first time, who himself is the child of a poor and backward. Who lives like them, talks in their language, sits beside them and listens to their problems. During my election campaign and campaigning in Patliputra parliamentary constituency, while going among the common people and communicating directly with them, I came to know and understand very well that the marginalized and the last rung of the society clearly believe that their participation in politics is incomplete without Lalu ji. This truth cannot be denied that Lalu ji proved that politics is not limited to power alone, but is also a tool to understand and change society.
Laluji’s stature remains as tall as the Himalayas
The RJD leader further wrote that the most popular word in today’s politics is ‘development’ but there is a big difference between superficial development and realistic development. In the broad context, the definition of development has changed a lot during the last four decades. Now development needs to be understood and seen more in the context of expansion of freedom in the society. In such a situation, if construction of roads and structures is development, then expansion of freedom of the oppressed and deprived groups of basic rights is a much bigger development. In view of this, Lalu ji’s relevance, Lalu ji’s contribution is more than others and due to this social, ideological, political reality, despite being entangled in all kinds of propaganda, vindictive legal troubles, Lalu ji’s stature remains as high as the Himalayas.
