The Enforcement Directorate team is raiding 18-19 places from Bihar to Delhi. This raid on Friday morning created a sensation in the political circles. Alok Mehta is RJD MLA, but the sensation reached the state office of Bharatiya Janata Party also. The reason is that Alok Mehta’s sister Suheli Mehta had joined BJP about one and a half years ago. Suheli was the female face of CM Nitish Kumar’s team

Alok Mehta and Suheli Mehta are among the highly educated politicians of Bihar. Suheli Mehta is a professor. After becoming famous as an educationist, she also came into limelight in politics when Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s party Janata Dal United started promoting women. Suheli Mehta was the female Kushwaha face in JDU, which is called Luv-Kush, i.e. the party of Kurmi-Koeri. She remained in JDU for a long time, but became disillusioned in May 2023. He had broken ties with JDU accusing Chief Minister Nitish Kumar of neglecting women. Three days later, on May 12, 2023, Prof. Suheli Mehta had accepted the membership of BJP from the then BJP President Samrat Chaudhary.

BJP had brought RCP Singh and Suheli Mehta along.

After the 2020 assembly elections, Nitish Kumar left the BJP that formed the government and went with the Grand Alliance. When BJP was directly taking on the Chief Minister before his return to the National Democratic Alliance in January 2024, Samrat Chaudhary was made the state president only to solve the Luv-Kush equation of JDU. Along with this, BJP had given membership of its party to two big faces of JDU. The biggest name among these was RCP Singh, an old confidant of Nitish Kumar who had created a huge network of JDU. RCP became a minister in the central government, after which, after moving away from Nitish Kumar, he finally got separated from JDU. He comes from Kurmi community. BJP then brought along RCP Singh, the big face of Kurmi caste and then Suheli Mehta, the big face of JDU in Koeri. There was a plan to break into JDU’s Luv-Kush vote bank after both of them joined BJP, but in January Nitish Kumar came back with BJP. After this, RCP Singh stepped aside feeling cheated, although Suheli Mehta is still intact.
