Couple died in a horrific road accident in Darbhanga. The incident took place near Lohia Chowk of Laheriasarai police station area. Late Saturday night, the husband and wife died on the spot after being hit by a speeding vehicle, while Naresh Mahato (the couple’s nephew), who was driving the bike, was seriously injured. The person who stabbed him ran away. Laheriasarai police station, which reached the spot after receiving information about the incident, admitted the injured youth to DMCH for treatment and sent the bodies of both the deceased to DMCH for post-mortem. The deceased has been identified as Mahesh Mahato and wife Surekha Devi, residents of Nimaithi of Baheri police station area.
Health deteriorated, was going to get treatment
It is said that Mahesh Kumar Mahato was suffering from kidney disease. His health deteriorated late at night. After this, he along with his nephew Naresh Mahato was going on a bike with his wife to get his treatment done at a hospital in Darbhanga. During this time, an unknown vehicle ran away hitting the vehicle near Lohia Chowk, resulting in the death of both the husband and wife. Ashok Mahato, nephew of those who died, told that when the kidney problem increased late at night, the uncle was taking the aunt to a private clinic. During this, a speeding vehicle hit him. The accident was so horrific that the uncle and aunt died on the spot.
Police sent the body to DMCH for postmortem.
Ashok Mahato told that his son himself had given information about the incident by phone. He told that the deceased had two daughters and a son. 20 year old elder daughter Megha Kumari is preparing for BPSC after passing B.Sc. 18 year old second daughter Divya Kumari has given B.Sc first part exam. As the third child, 15 year old son Priyanshu Kumar is studying in matriculation. The future of these children has become bleak due to the sudden demise of their parents. It will be difficult for them to manage their children’s education and their food expenses on their own. Laheriyasarai police station incharge Deepak Kumar said that as soon as information about the incident was received, the injured youth was admitted to DMCH for treatment, while the bodies of both the dead people in the incident have been sent to DMCH for post-mortem.
