Rajendra Pandey alias Lalka Baba (52), son of late Ramroshan Pandey, a resident of Bhodsa village under Ekma block of Saran district, performed his own shraddha while he was alive. All the rituals that are performed by the family after death, he performed them in his own life in front of his eyes and he participated in them. Just like the rituals are performed after death, he performed his own pinddaan after following the rituals for eleven days.
The reason behind performing one’s own Shraddha
While answering the question of getting his own shraddha done, Rajendra Pandey said that he is unmarried. He was always worried about who will perform his shraddha after death? Will anyone do it or not? With this thought in mind, he decided to perform his self shraddha while he was alive so that if the rituals are done while he is alive, he will get salvation after death. This worry will be removed as soon as the shraddha is completed. His shraddha has become a matter of curiosity among the villagers. People are discussing this a lot and are saying that does this even happen anywhere?
