Ashoka Temple of Lakhisarai, which is also known as Deoghar of Bihar, is again in discussion today. Here the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah is going to offer prayers. All preparations have been completed for this. The painting work of the temple has already been completed. Security personnel are deployed everywhere in and around the temple premises. Let’s know about this temple…
That’s why it got its name Ashok Dham Temple.
According to experts, on 7 April 1977, a shepherd named Ashok discovered a giant Shivling under the ground. It is believed that Ashok used to come here everyday for grazing cows. While playing gilli-danda during the day, he saw a huge Shivling lying inside the earth. He tried to uproot the Shivling, but could not succeed. After this the villagers got the temple constructed at this place. Since Ashoka had discovered this Shivling, hence it got its name Ashok Dham Temple. On 11 February 1993, the Shankaracharya of Jagannathpuri inaugurated the reconstruction of the temple complex. Lakhs of devotees gather in this temple during Shivratri and Sawan. This temple is also called Devghar of Bihar by the people here. Earlier people used to worship Baba Vaidyanath Dham in Deoghar. Later the people of this area started worshiping this Shiva Linga from here itself.
