Senior Superintendent of Police Ashish Bharti has suspended police officers Amit Kumar, Ajit Kumar and Reena Kumari posted at Belaganj police station of Gaya district on charges of dereliction of duty and negligence. An explanation has also been sought from those three officers.

Information was received about possession of weapons

In this regard, SSP says that Mohammad Saddam of Chandi Wajitpur of Belaganj police station area informed Assistant Sub Inspector Amit Kumar that a person is keeping illegal weapons in Chandauti village. The information received was given to the Senior Superintendent of Police of the district. After this, for verification and necessary action, he was sent for raid along with Inspector Ajit Kumar Sinha and female police officer Reena Kumari. They did not give timely information about the material recovered during the raid and legal action was started with a lot of delay.

Considering the seriousness of the case of negligence, SSP Ashish Bharti directed the trainee Deputy Superintendent of Police cum SHO Belaganj to submit a report. From the report of the trainee Deputy Superintendent of Police cum SHO Belaganj, it was found that the police sub-inspectors Amit Kumar, Ajit Kumar Sinha and Reena Kumari, who went to raid Chandauti village under Belaganj police station, did not give timely information about the material recovered during the raid and legal action was initiated with a lot of delay. This shows their negligence towards duty. After this, the SSP suspended all the said officials with immediate effect. Also

He also demanded an explanation against the departmental action. He says that in connection with the recovered material, Belagnj Police Station Case No. 437/24 dated 20 July was registered under Section 25(1-B)A/26/35 Arms Act and investigation was started and during the investigation, the role of the informant in this incident came to light. Thereafter, the non-primary accused (informant) Mohammad Saddam, son of Rafid Alam, resident of Chandi Vajipur of Belagnj Police Station area was arrested and sent to judicial custody.

The police trapped him like this

On the night of 19th July, police raided the house of Sahir Alam, a resident of Chunauti village of Belaganj police station. Three other policemen including SI Amit Kumar were involved in the raid. During this, police recovered 20 live cartridges from inside the house. During the raid, there was an altercation between the police and the victim’s family. After the said incident, the victim’s family met Gaya’s Senior SP Ashish Bharti and pleaded for justice. The victim’s family told the SP that during the raid, a person named Saddam also came with the police. Saddam had taken ₹100000 advance in the name of land. But when the investigation was done, it was found that the land did not belong to Saddam. When Saddam was asked for money, he left threatening to implicate the police. The victim’s family alleged that the police first kept cartridges in the house and then implicated them. Seeing the seriousness of the matter, the Senior SP has directed Assistant Superintendent of Police (Rural) Anwar Ahmed and DSP Law and Order Khurshid Alam to investigate. In the investigation, all three assistant sub-inspectors were found guilty. Now action has been taken against them.
